Jacob Austin
Jacob is a passionate musician and educator who specializes in helping students develop both technical and artistic fluency.
Jacob grew up in West Valley City. From a young age, he was fascinated by the power music has to emotionally move people. That fascination led him to pursue a deep understanding of the “grammatical” structure of music and the ways it can create profound emotional and physical responses within the human body. His journey has taken him through the study of violin, piano, guitar, and more, exploring the unique voice and character of each instrument. He has performed in a wide variety of ensembles and has specialized as a soloist, performing music ranging from the Baroque era to modern pop, with a particular emphasis on the Romantic era.
He focuses heavily on teaching both a theoretical understanding of music and its practical application. Through his experience, he has found that a strong grasp of music’s framework enables a musician to become not just an instrumentalist, but an artist. He believes there are beautiful and impactful works of art contained within every person’s human experience, and he hopes to help each of his students access the creativity within themselves and develop the musical fluency needed to express it.
